Landing It.

I've been watching a whole lotta Dave Chappelle lately. I'm a late to the game superfan. If you're a Chappelle fan, you know he goes wide with the crass and just as quickly, deep with poignancy, like this little gem:

"The world can't tell you who you are. You've just got to figure out who you are and be there, for better or worse."

I'm thinking about this concept tonight after spending time with a gaggle of kids this afternoon. The rain brought a lot of gloomy emotion in kid-land. Holy sh*t. The struggle was real. Tough as an adult to simply listen, take a step back, and not dive into problem solving or declaring that their beefs might fall on the nutty side. Their emotions are so real even if the events that led them there are seemingly trivial. I wish I can soften the blows, but in the end, these blows got to land so they can figure it out and shape their reactions. Now that being said, I can't help but meddle with a jab or two of "Yeah cool. You got this. Now think big: have you thought about <insert polar opposite opinion>."

I'm unapologetic in my "don't be unnecessarily miserable" life strategy. And with that, I leave you with a pic from yesterday's mountain biking trip where everything was sunny and super rad and I killed it in places that I usually crash and burn.
