Your Choice.

Yesterday I had breakfast with a couple of people who have been sleeping in the doorway at work. It was a warmer morning and not wet yet, so they were alert and ready for where the day was going to take them. People are out on the streets for loads of reasons. I no longer ask questions other than "do you want a coffee?" The young man in this equation declined coffee and very sweetly asked for a hot cocoa with whipped cream, to which I replied, "Of course, man. Good choice."

I'm always struck by choices, coincidence, and the fragility of perceived stability. Every choice--big and small--matters and has a ripple effect. I'm still processing my time from yesterday (it was slightly different from my usual morning interactions), which is prompting this rambling post. I don't have answers, but I do hope that as your day wears on today that you get to make choices that make you smile. Choose the hot cocoa. Choose to see people. Choose to be honest. Choose to be kind. Choose to be braver than you think you are.
